This Diwali, you can breathe a little easier. A fewer of your precious creations will suffocate and a little more people will be happy to step out of their homes the next day. Because this time, we will lay down our fireworks and spread love, instead of smoke and noise. Our roads will be cleaner, our pets will be happier and the skies will be clearer. The festival of lights will be brighter as our hearts will light up with cheer and laughter of togetherness. Be it the surprise gift from dadi, the pointless jokes from mamaji, the mouth-watering spread at the dinner table or the late-night card game with the entire family, we will set our differences, bridges and gaps on fire. Our gifts will not speak of status, they’ll narrate a story of affection. Remember the impersonal presents we used to exchange every now and then? We’re giving out plants this year.
